About Jim Lister

I grew up in a very small town in central Iowa. I graduated in 1991 from a joint program at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and The University of Iowa College of Medicine with an Associate’s Degree in Neurodiagnostics Technology.

I specialized in Sleep Disorders testing and treatment at the Sleep Clinic in the University of Iowa Hospitals. After completing the program in 1991 I accepted a temporary summer position at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. I was offered a permanent position in their new Sleep Disorders Clinic and I have been in Alaska ever since.

With over 25 years in Sleep Medicine I have seen many technological improvements from mechanical polygraphs that recorded onto scrolling paper, to computers and the digital revolution.  I moved out to Wasilla in 2004.

I enjoy my rural acreage with a large garden, growing vegetables and preserving what I grow. I enjoy fishing, gardening, photography and everything Alaska has to offer.
